Gloves 2011

My hands get terribly cold in winter, and already in the city with the winds that blow up and down the streets I am finding them numb and not very happy indeed.

My wanderings around town one lunchtime mysteriously lead me to Hermes. Seriously, I was not contemplating going there, but there I ended up... and upon arriving, I decided to do a little browsing, when I came upon the most glorious gloves I have ever seen.

They were in my favourite colour, 100% hand made, soft kid leather with silk lining, and palladium accents... really, just perfection.

The sales assistant measured my hand and told me I am a size 85. The gloves I wanted were only a size 75 - they would not fit. I was sad.

I looked at the others but they were not what I wanted.... She checked the other stores for me - no, no others in Australia, I will have to find another style.

I tried one nice pair in blue in size 85 ... they were pretty but the sales assistant thought they were too big. Drats.

We found another nice pair in a dusty pink/red in size 80 ... they too were pretty but again, not as good as the ones I first spied, and... surprisingly, the sales assistant again thought they were too big....

So that meant that the 75 is perhaps, just perhaps, my size......

so I tried on the ones I first saw in the 75.... and, they fitted like a glove!!!!!

Now I asked about the price, but I already knew... they were coming home with me....

My new gloves!!!!

I love that there is a single thread holding the pair together,
with one perfect knot in place holding it carefully.

Rhodium Castle - 20 May 2011

At the VicBred qualifying races we saw Rhodium Castle run for a place in the finals. She finished 4th which means we will be there next week cheering her on. Fingers crossed for a win.

Warragul - 24 April 2011

One more Smile ran on Easter Sunday at Warragul. He is a very nice looking horse and was very calm and enjoyed a pat after the race. He had a poor draw, ran well, and managed to finish 6th.

Rhodium Castle - Oaks Final - 15 April 2011

Rhodium Castle put in a valiant effort on 15 April to finish 2nd in the Vic Oaks final. She beat everything apart from star Kiwi filly 'Better cover lover'. Many of the Race-a-pacer owners were there to welcome her back to the stables, giving her lots of pats! She is a really special and pretty horse indeed.

Lunch at the Press Club - April 2011

Well I know what I am going to do next time.... take my good camera and take photos of my friends! I think I was so excited at seeing Natalie and Loredana that I forgot what I was doing and just grabbed a few quick pics of our lunch together, somehow forgot about us though, which was rather silly as the three of us were all looking just fabulous! Next time I shall!

A day in the Yarra Valley - 6 March 2011

We met Loredana and Paul up at the Yarra Valley for an afternoon of wine and food. Unfortunately Natalie and Kieran were unable to make it. Lunch was enjoyed at Domaine Chandon - followed by a delicious tasting. I think the photos say it all!

Devonport, New Zealand

On Sunday we made a trip across to Devonport, Auckland. To get there we caught a ferry which was a lovely way to relax and take in the views of the city.

Pulling out of Auckland Harbour
Devonport is a sleepy little village, not much to see, just a seaside resort, I can imagine it would be packed on a hot summer day.
